The above image also had Topaz Sharpen AI applied after Topaz DeNoise AI from above. If there is color noise in your image, moving the Color Noise Reduction slider is very useful – a Size slider will appear where you must decide how much more of the image each pixel will look at – Joel says 0.50 is a good setting for this. Looking at other images, it appears most people use Recover Original Detail somewhere around 25 to 35 for a setting. It helps add some detail back when the image looks too smooth, especially with Portrait images – it definitely helped this flower image too. ![]() Still not clear on this, but it does seems to improved some images. What does the Sharpen slider do if there is a Recover Original Detail slider? According to Topaz, “It sharpens the details in your image since removing noise can sometimes soften the details in images, this allows you to retain that sharpness after processing your image.” The Recover Original Detail slider allows for refinement of details in the image to achieve a more realistic look if it appears that DeNoise AI has over-corrected the image. And yes, keep hitting the Update button to see the change if Auto Update is turned off. When adjusting these sliders manually, I usually over-adjust the Remove Noise amount, then move it back to the correct setting. To me the Auto button does not recognize the correct amount of noise in my images, so I do not use it. Also note that at the top there is a Brightness button – it sometimes helps to see the noise better. ![]() Below is the screenshot of what DeNoise AI was able to do to clean up this image – it may appear a little soft looking here, but at 100% it is still pretty sharp.įirst, turn off the Auto-update preview or your computer will go nuts running all the time – just remember to click Update when ready to see the changes. The image above was taken in low evening light using 2000 ISO, which is unheard of for me and my camera. I have an older DSLR camera and the higher ISO setting images show lots of noise – this program has been a life-saver for me as I want to take those night-time shots too. DeNoise AI has the ability to find just the noise in the darker (or lighter areas) areas and leave other noise-free areas alone. More noise will show up in the shadows and with the newer cameras especially, the ISO can be cranked way up to get that all-important detail. ![]() So why use DeNoise AI? It is especially good for images set to a higher ISO, especially with lots of dark areas like night images. DeNoise AI also includes AI Clear and I will discuss that in more detail below. It has been greatly improved with each revision. They have upgraded DeNoise AI several times since it was first released a year ago. Lots of photographers do their RAW processing first, then use DeNoise AI, and finally apply Sharpen AI – both programs can be reached directly from ACR, Lightroom, OnOne, and several other software programs or from within Photoshop as a plugin. So here is my take on what is going on and how I am using these products.Īlways apply Topaz DeNoise AI (or any denoise product for that matter) first before applying Topaz Sharpen AI (or any sharpening filter) – you do not want to sharpen any noise residing in your image. This week I finally got some answers in a couple Topaz (see sidebar of my Tidbits Blog for website link) Webinars that Joel Wolfson did in the last few months. I actually had this blog half-drafted a whole year ago and did not publish it as I could not figure out exactly what was going on. I was going to do a review of the updated Sharpen AI, but decided instead to write about when to use all these fabulous Topaz AI plugins since I think it is personally very confusing. ![]() WHEN DO YOU USE TOPAZ DENOISE AI, SHARPEN AI, AND AI CLEAR? ![]() They also work as fast travel and supply points where we can gear up and round up some of the remaining UNSC troops to hop in a Warthog with us on the way to the next mission. Instead, we’re treated to a handful of extra missions, a few optional collectibles and upgrades, and that’s it. These work almost like Ubisoft Towers in that they reveal nearby missions or collectibles, but they don’t then litter the map with ten ton of icons to wade through. The main missions are easily noted, but in between are Forward Operating Base’s to liberate. That’s not to mention the side activities that are here all work to progress the story and player in some way. ![]() The section of Zeta Halo we’re on still takes time to get across but with a Mongoose or Ghost the time just flies by. I’m happy to report though that the open world here is neither too large nor filled with a ton of busy body shit to do. Some may be slightly wary of this approach, with others likening it to Far Cry based on the preview coverage. Zeta Halo is, for all intents and purposes, ours to explore. Older Halo’s had the feel of a wide open play space but were really just large corridors with occasional pockets of openness. The core gameplay is solid then, mixing new and old to a fantastic degree, but clearly the biggest change players will notice going into Infinite is the new open world approach. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug, but the effectiveness of 343i’s improvements here makes it feel as though Halo has always had them, and I can’t applaud them enough for their implementation. Hip firing the assault rifle is just as effective, but the zoom can help fine tune our aim that little bit. All weapons can be zoomed in by holding the trigger, but crucially this appears to be a mostly aesthetic thing in terms of accuracy or damage. Sprint, as in Guardians, is a given now which helps keep up the pace, and mantling lets us traverse more of Zeta Halo far easier than we’d have otherwise gotten. An area wide scan is available at a button press letting us see all the available pickups around us easily, even those hidden under bodies or behind walls. They’ve also taken great pains it seems to improve in ways that bring Infinite more in line with today’s standards. The combat was one of the key selling points in the original Xbox launch title for good reason, and for the first time 343i have nailed that feeling perfectly. And when a battle is all said and done, the carnage left strewn about the place is ripe for looting and weapon swapping before we move onto the next. An errant grenade might just tip the scales in our favour, or it might just fuck it all up as we detonate an unseen explosive barrel that careens right for us. Weapon impact is super satisfying, with shields crackling and bursting with a palpable sense of energy and damage. Enemies duck and weave behind cover, flank us, and even lob smaller grunts holding grenades at us. Movement is fast and fluid, and gunfights are hectic, weighty, and full of surprises in the way only Halo can do. The three pillars essential to the older games – Guns, Grenades, and Melee – feel spot on, and Infinite’s equipment additions are probably the best implemented yet, even better than their introduction in Halo 3. ![]() There are more modern elements for sure, but the core feel of the gameplay is the best the series has been since Halo 3. That is to say, Halo Infinite feels like a true Halo game through and though. We’ll discuss the Multiplayer of Infinite in a separate article later on, but having beaten the campaign this past week I feel confident in saying that not only is this 343i’s best effort yet, but it does a damn fine job of remembering what made Halo special in the first place. Multiplayer wise, those sentiments could be reversed per game, but no matter the game and mode, there was always something missing. While the campaign in Halo 4 was decent, it fell a long way short of the fun and chaos of the original trilogy, and the less said about Guardians solo effort to better. For me, ever since 343i took the reins of the Halo franchise the series has lost that spark that made it all but essential play. ![]() Open Control Panel and go to Network and Internet. To solve this, you may delete the browsing history, cookies, and caches following the given steps: ![]() ![]() If you leave the chrome, firefox, etc browser open for a long time, it may accumulate a huge amount of temporary data, considering visiting multiple websites. #2 Clean browsing history in Windows 10Ĭookies, cache files, and temporary files make your system slower and may also impact your browsing experience annoying. These hiccups are rather rare but feel all the more pronounced thanks to the focus on speed Pac-Man CE naturally has.Īll of the changes are brave, however, and the result is still more than the sum of its parts. The Switch version features the same excellent presentation that really makes this version of Pac-Man shine - bright, crisp visuals, adrenaline-pumping music and a generally excellent presentation that is sadly occasionally marred by frame rate struggles, particularly in handheld mode. The difficulty spikes in some really brutal, unpredictable ways, and while I quite enjoyed it I can see that being a turn-off for some. It never quite gets too complicated, but some of the changes to ghost behavior and removing the slow-motion encounters in exchange for more durable but less deadly ghosts all feel like they don't work quite as well as they should. Bigger isn't always better - but this release is decidedly bigger than its predecessor. Sometimes it feels like things have been added just so Namco can point out that this sequel is different, but many of the changes don't live up to the promise of changing the game. The truth is that they've done a rather good job of that, but the additions also run the risk of diluting down what made Pac-Man Championship Edition great. It's clear the development team have considered long and hard exactly what to do with Pac-Man to keep him engaging for an audience now more used to far more complex games. All of this works pretty well, but it does feel a little stretched compared to the simple time trial simplicity of competing for high scores on a variety of shape mazes and maps as in the previous game. The single-player Adventure Mode offering progresses through a wide range of levels that feature unique gimmicks, great audio and visual design and even memorable new boss battles with transforming stages. It's fast-paced, exhilarating and incredibly exciting when things get down to the wire, and there's definitely a great sense of individual growth and progression as you master the simple but powerful movement tools you're given. It's all about that speed, with the ghosts and the maze there to slow you down rather than outright bully and defeat you.Īt its most simple level, Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 feels fantastic. Championship Edition 2 even allows you to hit ghosts a few times without any penalty, and there's other skills like a bomb jump to return to the starting point and even a brake button to slow Pac-Man down. Championship Edition is all about high score, with the ghosts little more than a nuisance rather than a full-blown threat and a time attack style focus on speed. The original game was about score but it was most of all about survival, dodging and weaving between the ghosts. The great triumph of Championship Edition is how it simply refocuses Pac-Man. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. Championship Edition managed it brilliantly, and this sequel builds on that in ways that are smart and outlandish - the latter sometimes a positive and sometimes a slight negative. ![]() ![]() The concept of Pac-Man CE was dubious to begin with - just how do you really, truly make a proper sequel to a game so old, simplistic and well-known? We've seen multiplayer attempts like Pac-Man Vs, available on Switch as part of Namco Museum, but broadening and expanding on the core formula is a much more difficult proposition. I'm pleased to report that this time it's fully clicked and I've been having a blast with it, though one can certainly argue this Pac-Man reimagining takes on a little more than it should. I picked it up but found it never quite grabbed me in the same way as its predecessor, but with the game now coming to Nintendo Switch in an expanded form it felt pretty fitting to give it a second chance. Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 remains exhilarating fun, but some of its new additions prove bigger doesn't always equal better.ĭespite absolutely loving the original Pac-Man Championship Edition, the sequel somehow originally passed me by. ![]() The Massachusetts Turnpike was extended from Route 128 in Weston to I-93 in downtown Boston. ![]() ![]() The Boston & Worcester became part of the Boston and Albany Railroad in 1867, which itself was leased by the New York Central Railroad in 1900.
